HOW WILL THE ANGELS LOSE TODAY?!

I wish this forum had upvotes.

So I think this is the point in the year when Stanton turns back into a monster. I'm looking forward to it.

Career OPS+ numbers: Sanchez 129, Stanton 144

OPS+ numbers for 2018: Sanchez 100, Stanton 123

Yep, it's coming.

As of today, Harry Stovey has been dead exactly as long as he was alive: 80 years and 274 days.

He's never heard of you, either. And you were never briefly MLB's all-time career home run king, so he has a much better excuse.
   7. rconn23 Posted: June 21, 2018 at 11:51 AM (#5696925)
Ryan Cook's expletive after giving up the Stanton homer was the loudest I think I've heard. I'm sure there have been others as audible, but none immediately come to mind.
   8. Blastin Posted: June 21, 2018 at 11:54 AM (#5696931)
It was so loud that it obscured what it actually was (it was \"####!"). So loud it circled back around to being muffled.

Do either of you have a link for that? I watched the YES version live, and I just watched it again along with the Sterling call, and while I could see Cook bend over and shout something, the announcers and the crowd noise easily drowned him out.
   10. Blastin Posted: June 21, 2018 at 01:15 PM (#5697013)
According to Deadspin, MLB has gone back and edited it out since sometime this morning.

Aaron Judge HR! 2-0!
   12. Blastin Posted: June 21, 2018 at 01:21 PM (#5697017)
I think the "Paxton is a god" part of the season might be over.

I very much want to win the division, not sure I'd be scared of him in a one-gamer.

Update: enjoying this "pitching duel."

Just catching up, nice lead off from SYNDROME and how the hell did Judge hit that ball on the inner half that far out to right center?

Dammit, Stanton robbed!
   15. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: June 21, 2018 at 01:26 PM (#5697020)
Just goes to show what can happen when the Yanks go with the pitch. Hope the Red Sox are scoreboard watching in Minny.

Does he still have the ability to summon birds of prey?
   18. Blastin Posted: June 21, 2018 at 01:32 PM (#5697025)
He better find another eagle before the next inning.
   19. Blastin Posted: June 21, 2018 at 01:33 PM (#5697026)
I see there shall be no great pitching today. Buckle up. Ball is flying.

Both teams appear to have their scrub A. Romines in the lineup today. It's kinda throwing me off.

What's throwing me off is the Yankees' scrub has a 159 wRC+ so far. What did he do, sell his soul to the devil?

   24. Welcome to Gator Hammock (CoB). Posted: June 21, 2018 at 02:11 PM (#5697055)
Bah!

But, to be fair, Ball 3 looked like Strike 3 ...
   25. rconn23 Posted: June 21, 2018 at 02:16 PM (#5697061)
I think the Austin Romine regression is beginning to get underway. Fortunately, I believe Sanchez is about to get rolling. Meanwhile, Yankees need more runs because this is a rare off day for Sevy.
   26. snapper (history's 42nd greatest monster) Posted: June 21, 2018 at 02:20 PM (#5697067)
If Severino can give us two more IP with 0 or 1 run, I feel good.

Green, Roberston, and Betances haven't pitched since Monday.
   27. Welcome to Gator Hammock (CoB). Posted: June 21, 2018 at 02:21 PM (#5697069)
Another hit for Syndrome!
   28. snapper (history's 42nd greatest monster) Posted: June 21, 2018 at 02:23 PM (#5697071)
One of our OF really needs to pick up a first basemen's glove. Stanton, get to work.

Yep.

C'mon Sevy, settle down.
   31. snapper (history's 42nd greatest monster) Posted: June 21, 2018 at 02:31 PM (#5697089)
Can not walk Romine. Groove it if you have to. Let him hit it out, if he can.
   32. snapper (history's 42nd greatest monster) Posted: June 21, 2018 at 02:35 PM (#5697095)
That's some gutty pitching there.

Edit: not so fond of the Twins pitching at the moment.
   33. rconn23 Posted: June 21, 2018 at 02:36 PM (#5697096)
Way to battle. That's what aces do.

The Twins were gonna Twins at some point.

They can't wait one more day? Anyway, Gibson pitched tough there and kept them in the game.
   36. snapper (history's 42nd greatest monster) Posted: June 21, 2018 at 02:45 PM (#5697103)
Tough pitching by Paxton too. Greg Bird should never start against a good lefty.
   37. Blastin Posted: June 21, 2018 at 02:49 PM (#5697107)
Imagine if Stanton's HR hadn't been snagged!

They can't wait one more day?

It would appear not, but then Seattle gets to play Boston while we go to Tampa so that's fun for the whole family.
   38. snapper (history's 42nd greatest monster) Posted: June 21, 2018 at 02:52 PM (#5697109)
Might be time to get Severino some help here.
   39. Baldrick Posted: June 21, 2018 at 03:04 PM (#5697112)
They can't wait one more day?

The Twins have won five of their last twenty-four games against the Yankees, including in the wild card game last year.
   40. rconn23 Posted: June 21, 2018 at 03:07 PM (#5697113)
And after a first inning explosion the offense goes into deep freeze. Shouldn't have had to sweat out this game.
   41. snapper (history's 42nd greatest monster) Posted: June 21, 2018 at 03:08 PM (#5697114)
[39] So? I still want them to beat the Red Sox. This is rooting. Fairness has nothing to do with it :-)
   42. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: June 21, 2018 at 03:44 PM (#5697147)
Never thought I'd see the day when a pinch runner couldn't steal a base off Betances. Great throw by Romine.
   43. rconn23 Posted: June 21, 2018 at 03:51 PM (#5697159)
Man, Chapman has been really worked hard lately. Would have preferred not to use him here.

If he saves this game, it will be 6 IP in 10 days. 9.3 in 20 days. That doesn't seem abusive.
   45. The Yankee Clapper Posted: June 21, 2018 at 04:00 PM (#5697166)
Sweep!

GET OUT THE BROOMS!
   48. rconn23 Posted: June 21, 2018 at 04:01 PM (#5697172)
YES!!
   49. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: June 21, 2018 at 04:02 PM (#5697173)
Seattle's gotta be wanting to take it out on their next opponent, whoever that is. Go Mariners!
   50. rconn23 Posted: June 21, 2018 at 04:02 PM (#5697174)

Yeah. For some reason I thought he pitched Tuesday. My mistake.

I'm a fan of Yankee sweeps :-)
   52. The Yankee Clapper Posted: June 21, 2018 at 04:04 PM (#5697178)
46,658 at the Stadium for today's midweek afternoon game. Yankees drawing very well since the Baby Bombers have emerged; should set a record for the new Stadium this year.

EDIT: Maybe not on that record; attendance from 2009 -11 was a little higher than I remembered.
   53. stanmvp48 Posted: June 21, 2018 at 05:42 PM (#5697269)
Mets have grounded into 5 double plays through 8.

D-backs up 6:0 in the 2nd inning. Are they like totally mad now ?
   55. phredbird Posted: June 21, 2018 at 09:24 PM (#5697455)
the cardinals are doing everything they can to get me to finally just give up and switch permanently to the dodgers.

Hendricks just completely fell apart, and Rosario was due for some correction.

Yeah, but ideally not consecutively.

I'm beginning to think Heyward was just trolling us for 2+ years.

What a great AB for javy. Wow.

Well that was anti-climactic.
   61. Moses Taylor, glorified meat shield Posted: June 21, 2018 at 09:50 PM (#5697492)
Yeah. Almost too bad javy walked.

Can any ####### Cardinal catch a ball.... omg this is just a horrible defensive showing from the Cardinals today.
   64. cardsfanboy Posted: June 21, 2018 at 10:40 PM (#5697567)
A grand slam here, still means the Cardinals are 5 runs behind.
   65. cardsfanboy Posted: June 21, 2018 at 10:44 PM (#5697575)
Cardinals losing 11-2... get a bases loaded nobody out in the 8th inning, a situation in which the opposite team will gladly trade an out for a run..... end of the inning, 11-2 still.
