Manfred doesn't particularly like baseball so this may be a real possibility but no. Just no.

Granted, doubleheaders would go pretty fast if they only played seven innings in the two games combined.

I think something like three nine-inning doubleheaders a week might be exactly the ticket to drive pace-of-play change.

If players are stuck playing two games often, they have a real incentive to go along with speeding things up.

So would umps. Actually, the umps already have that incentive. (So do players, even if they don't realize it).

I honestly wouldn't be upset by this. We'd see a big spike in complete games, though.

It would be even more advantageous to go with 4 pitchers per game. You could now have your "starter" go all out for 10 to 12 batters and then bring in three pitchers for the rest of the game.
