Sharks hire ex-Dodgers GM Colletti as scout

The San Jose Sharks have gone out of the box in looking for front-office talent, adding former Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti as a scout.

“Ned has an extensive background working in professional sports and talent evaluation and he will bring a fresh perspective to our organization’s evaluation process,” Sharks GM Doug Wilson said in announcing the move. “This was a unique opportunity to add someone of Ned’s experience to our staff.”

Yes, he lasted as long as he did by pandering to Bill Plaschke, but can he keep Don Cherry happy?

He kept confounding Dodger scouts with questions about the strength of their prospects’ slapshots and ability of their players to skate backwards. So he should be a better fit with the Sharks

But who’s going to be the front office guy who chats with Dave Vassegh on Dodger Talk?

If the pattern holds, Farhan Zaidi will someday work for an NBA team.
