Source: New York Yankees ship struggling Joey Gallo to Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired outfielder Joey Gallo from the New York Yankees on Tuesday, a source confirmed to ESPN.

The news of the trade was first reported by, which said the Yankees would be receiving Double-A pitcher Clayton Beeter.

Gallo, a two-time All-Star, including last season when he was acquired by the Yankees in a trade with the Texas Rangers, has struggled badly this season. While he has 12 home runs and 24 RBIs, he has a .159 average and has struck out 106 times in 233 at-bats.

I cannot believe they got Beeter for Gallo.

Beeter is a legitimately exciting prospect. He needs to be switched to the pen, but he's striking out 15/9IP at AA, as a STARTER. Even in this era, that is elite.

He needs to go down to Tampa and spend the rest of the year in the lab that they build the rest of the pitchers in, but he has ultra exciting stuff for the Yankees to mold. Great, great trade. Gallo is worthless!

Lots of chatter Brewers were interested. While I do think Gallo has serious bounceback potential being so miserable in NY I am ok with no additional swing and miss in Crew lineup

The thing with Beeter is he has one of these Pitching Ninja type super stiff front leg elastic deliveries that can generate just electric stuff, but doesn't produce control or durability.

Reliever. Top shelf reliever.

Beeter is a 23-yo "starter" at AA who (how surprising) strikes out a ton of guys with no control and still has an ERA near 6. The quotes because in his 16 starts and 2 relief apperances, he's thrown just 51 innings; last year he had 27 starts and 52 innings; is that grooming him to be 4-inning starter or a 2-inning reliever?

He'll get to regrow his beard, so I expect 12-15 HR for the rest of the season.

So Gallo is going to be a World Series hero with a HR in NY.

Not exactly how it was sketched out but still possible
