SportTicker: [J.D.] Drew out of lineup with vertigo

Looking up at the Rays in the standings isn’t sitting well with him, it appears.

Boston Red Sox outfielder J.D. Drew is suffering from vertigo and was held out of Friday’s starting lineup against the Baltimore Orioles.

The oft-injured Drew is batting .281 with four home runs and 22 RBI in 44 games for the reigning World Series champion Red Sox.

I seem to remember Ken Dayley having the same or similar problem, shortly after he signed with the Jays. I'm not entirely sure that it was vertigo, but it had something to do with an inner ear problem.

I take the morning off and go back to work/school in the afternoon.
Edit: It happens about 4 times a year: not a huge deal.

Poor bastard. I fully expect some day that he'll swing the bat and both his arms will fall off twisting an ankle in the process, and whilst being carted off to the nearest medical facility the ambulance ends up going off the road and into a ditch. Of course everyone survives, though the ambulance driver nerves are shot, so he lights up a cigarette not noticing the gas spewing from the punctured tank...and well...you can imagine the rest.

Ahhh, a good explanation for DePo's demise -- he was playing two players and getting less than one player's production.

Definitely a fire/ice combo.

Drew hasn't been on the DL since joining the Red Sox. His problem has been a lack of power (his HR today brought his slugging up to only .434).

Or am I missing some joke that has to do with you capitalizing Rope and Lodger?
