Taking Back the Ballparks - Rockies voting thread

For the Rockies, we’ve got four variations on the mountains that give the team its name and the region its identity, plus the old standby corporate name that has served the club without incident for more than 20 years.

A) Coors Field
B) Front Range Park
C) Mile High Park
D) Mountain View Park
E) Rocky Mountain Park

Next Up: The home of the champs

A) Coors Field

Ain't broke. Don't fix it.

Any of them are fine, except for E. Based on the discussion thread, it sounds good to anyone who doesn't live in Denver area, but to people who live there, it sounds out-of-town-stupid, as Denver isn't in the Rockies.

I really like D.
   3. Rusty Priske Posted: May 29, 2018 at 03:19 PM (#5681552)
C

(I also like D & E. B sounds odd to me, and A is absolutely no.)
   4. BDC Posted: May 29, 2018 at 03:34 PM (#5681569)
I'll go with A.

Let's just relocated them to Este's Park, okay? Then they can play in Rocky Mountain Park in Rocky Mountain National Park (of Este's Park).

Assuming that that's not an option, I'm going to vote C, on the basis of Coors making ##### beer.

A) Coors Field

(With D as first runner up)

E) Rocky Mountain Park

I don't agree with the geographic objections to this choice. If the team was the Denver Plateaus, it'd be understandable. But they chose to brand themselves with the state, not the city. The Rocky Mountains are the defining characteristic of the state. Plus the team name is the friggin' Rockies. "Mountain View" wouldn't be a horrible choice but my first association with that is Silicon Valley, not Colorado.

Voting ends tomorrow. Hoping some of our Rox fans can weigh in before the polls close.

D) Mountain View Park.

I like Coors Field.

Rockies fan, live here. I hate the beer and despise the family's politics, but I vote A. C would have been ideal but unfortunately it's too associated with the Broncos and their stadia, past and present, and there's just no undoing that. D is too generic sounding, B would be puzzling to too many non-Coloradans, and E is the name of a national park.

BTW, Ziggy, it's Estes Park. No apostrophe, it's not the Park of Este, it's named after a man named Estes.

A)

Reluctantly.
   15. ajnrules Posted: June 04, 2018 at 06:40 PM (#5685863)
D
   16. puck Posted: June 04, 2018 at 09:33 PM (#5685949)
I vote A.

Also Rockies fan and local. I don't think many around here have a problem with a a place called "Coors Field."
   17. Greg Pope Posted: June 04, 2018 at 09:57 PM (#5685965)
I vote D.

My actual preference would be E, but apparently that would be like voting for Gary Johnson. Basically, I'm voting against A.
   18. Rusty Priske Posted: June 05, 2018 at 09:02 AM (#5686073)
Can I go all 'atrategic voter' and switch to D?

For the same reason as #17.
   19. SoSH U at work Posted: June 05, 2018 at 11:12 AM (#5686142)
Last call. Voting closes in less than an hour.
   20. jacksone (AKA It's OK...) Posted: June 05, 2018 at 11:41 AM (#5686168)
A

Nothing wrong with it, it hasn't changed with the times, and the others are too generic-y sounding (except for C - but that's for the Broncos).
   21. SoSH U at work Posted: June 05, 2018 at 12:10 PM (#5686191)
One more for the status quo. Coors Field it is.

   22. Dag Nabbit at ExactlyAsOld.com Posted: June 05, 2018 at 12:15 PM (#5686194)
What stadium is up next?
   23. SoSH U at work Posted: June 05, 2018 at 12:19 PM (#5686197)
The defending champs. The entry should appear any minute.

   24. Rusty Priske Posted: June 05, 2018 at 12:31 PM (#5686205)
Ugh.

"We can name it anything we want! Let's name it after a beer company!"
   25. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: June 05, 2018 at 01:14 PM (#5686248)
1609.34 Meter High Stadium.

Eh, on clear days you can pretty much see the stadium from Golden, it's not like Coors isn't a major presence there.
