Talking Friars on Twitter: List of Tatis Events

The Padres are locked into his contract for a very long time. Could they really have missed his immaturity before getting him locked up? Hopefully, he will learn from all of this.

Based on his behavior I’m assuming the motorcycle accident triggers more negative clauses in his contract than a PED violation does?

For someone with the means to be able to avoid it, riding on a motorcycle in the D.R. seems extremely stupid.

I imagine that Tatis was taking the motorcycle to visit https://www.electronykacademy.com/forum/general-discussions/car-video-recording-system site there.

That makes sense as they were able to cover up his previous 5 years of suspensions.

He's probably a dumb kid.

Even most stupid people would learn their lesson after the first accident.

I love the "piling on" aspect of his problems.

Here's a question. Let's say the Padres could simply cut him loose from his contract due to some technicality

What does the used car Tatis get in the open market ?

More than he's scheduled to over the next two years ($7.7M and $15.7M), certainly, plus incentives.

If I was the Padres, I might threaten legal action to get out of the contract, and then use that as leverage to get him to accept a handler and mentorship. Like I suggested in another thread, this (mentorship) seems like a perfect assignment for Garry Templeton, if he was interested.

Lots, but with some serious riders in the contract. Lot of years with some overpay, $10m base with another $15-20m in games played incentives maybe, to make suspensions and dumb injuries more painful. Also team opt out at a couple points to help keep the young man focused. He could make more money by staying on the field, but he won't if he doesn't.
