Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Tyler Glasnow will miss the start of the regular season because of an oblique injury that is expected to sideline the hard-throwing right-hander for six to eight weeks.
The Rays announced Tuesday that an MRI revealed Glasnow has a Grade 2 left oblique strain, an injury he reportedly suffered during a live batting practice session.
Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters that he “would book that right now” when asked whether Glasnow would miss the start of the season.

1. Walt Davis Posted: February 28, 2023 at 05:45 PM (#6119060)I missed this news -- Glasnow signed for 2/$30 for his last arb and first FA year. That seems very generous by the Rays, $5 M for this year (what he'd have gotten in arb) and $25 for next. A healthy Glasnow would be worth $25 easy but his career high is 14 starts (with a full 2020) -- I don't know why you'd go that high.
EDIT: I assume $25 is the highest single-season salary in Rays history. I think Charlie Morton might beat the $15 AAV.
