Texas Rangers to host 2024 All-Star Game at Globe Life Field

Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred announced at the conclusion of Thursday’s ownership meetings in New York that the Rangers’ bid, co-sponsored by the cities of Arlington and Fort Worth, had been selected to host the 94th All-Star Game at Globe Life Field in 2024. The game is scheduled for July 16.

The Rangers have previously hosted one other All-Star Game, the 1995 Midsummer Classic, which was won by the National League on MVP Jeff Conine’s eighth-inning home run. It was played in the second season at what was then The Ballpark in Arlington.

This is the first indication that the Rangers won't be building a new ballpark for two years

If MLB liked Georgia's legislating, just wait until they see what the Texas Legislature is cooking up this go-round. Other interested teams should have a competing bid on hot standby.

Yep, this seems like it's almost daring them to do something to make this another kerfluffle. (But Texas isn't the only state that will be seeing objectionable laws hitting the books, Missouri and Florida will probably be joining in eliminating four more sites from contention)

Without getting into national politics, the official Republican Party of Texas platform, in part, calls for holding a 2023 statewide referendum on secession.

Heh. Texas leaves the USA - Civil War II, should be interesting. Glad I'm way up here in Canada, of course, our version of Texas (Alberta) wants to separate too. Sigh. What is it with these oil based right wing places? They think they can do it all, but when push comes to shove they always fall back and beg for national money (hurricanes or electricity down in Texas, Alberta begging for federal money to clean up old oil wells).

Well, given that the various ‘voter suppression’ claims were largely disproved by this year’s primary & general elections in Georgia, it may be more difficult to pull off such stunts in the future.
