The expansion era sub-310 career OBP team, in honor of Javy's HR yesterday.

C Salvador Perez
1B Gary Gaetti
2B Aparicio
SS Belanger
3B Baez
OF Kiermaier, Blair, Rasmus

OK, that one's by WAA so downplays career length. The OF with the best arm gets RF. That's of course cheating as some guys are playing out of their regular positions. A more legit one (alas, no Javy)

C Salvador Perez
1B Kingman
2B Frank White
SS Belanger/Aparicio
3B Gaetti
LF Joe Carter
CF Blair
RF Tony Armas

Kingman played all over but near as I can tell, has the most games at 1B of anybody who qualifies. Carter played all over the OF but slightly more LF than either of the other two spots and Armas I'm surprised to find was 50/50 CF/RF. Again, not much to choose from and I think those guys are among the leaders at those positions anyway. You can make a case for Glenn Wilson in RF.

there's cutting a corner - and there's using a battering ram to knock down a wall.

Aparicio appeared in 2,581 MLB games - and never played a single inning anywhere but SS.

even Belanger, in his early years, got into 26 G at 2B and 2 at 3B.

5,735th game for umpire Joe West, tying the all-time mark of Bill Klem.

ESPN says that West, who debuted in 1976, bought 160 tickets for friends and family for tomorrow night's game at the ChiSox ballpark.

TLR has 2754 victories as a manager... He's never once won a game against the Cardinals.

Bader leaves the game with an injury. Not looking like it's a long term thing, probably day to day type of injury.

Lance Lynn working on this week's no-hitter.

.300 OBP is a nice round number that traditionally has been considered a cutoff for being an absolute garbage on base percentage. The Tigers as a team this year are at .296 OBP, the Indians are at .287 and the Mariners at .279. There are some truly trash lineups in the American League this season. At least the Marlins at .296 and the Brewers at .299 can blame having to have their pitchers hit.

Here's a record I doubt will be broken soon:

In the just-concluded 4 game Tampa Bay - Toronto series, the Blue Jays' bullpen gave up 4 runs in the 12th inning of Friday's game, 2 runs in the final 2 innings of Saturday's game, 4 runs in the 9th inning of Sunday's game, and 9 runs in the 10th and 11th innings of today's finale.

That's a total of 19 runs in 6 innings, and all of those runs came in innings that Toronto entered either tied or with a lead. The only consolation for the Blue Jays is that these "home" games were being played about 1100 miles from Toronto.

kim blows up and then the reliever lets in the runners he inherited. just great.

but honestly the pitching can't take all the blame. so we let in some runs on some bad pitches and a bad break or two. this offense looks like it will never score five runs in a game ever again.

Cardinal Baseball was super fun for the first 1/4. With injuries and regression we are heading back to the place where a walk, hbp, fielder choice, wild pitch and an error lead to a two run rally.

Wasting one good pitching performance after another.

there's cutting a corner - and there's using a battering ram to knock down a wall.

Guilty but there's no doubt Luis could have handled the position. Put Belanger there if you want, I just figured that the fancy stats rate Belanger as the better fielder so I'd leave him at SS.

No surprise to anybody, the sub-310 OBP list is very heavy on C, SS and CF ... and you're not gonna score many runs, so you might as well put the best defense out there. But yes, the 2nd list is more realistic.

Rasmus had a better career and lower OBP than I realized.
