Tim Tebow and his .163 batting average head to the injured list

Tim Tebow’s minor league baseball career is not going well.

Tebow, the former NFL quarterback who has spent the last couple years trying to be a professional baseball player, is hitting .163 with the Syracuse Mets, and now he’s been placed on the injured list after cutting his hand while trying to field a ball. The cut required eight stitches.

Does this mean that we won?

after cutting his hand while trying to field a ball.

Suddenly the Bill James quip about Willie Aikens and his fielding -- "If there is somebody worse than Aikens, he must be playing first with a machete." -- makes a whole lot more sense.

Can't Tebow just lay his other hand on the injury to heal it?

That's my line from the Omnichatter when this was first announced. I'll invoice you for appropriate royalties.

TFA doesn't state.... but how exactly do you cut your hand fielding a ball?

I'm guessing it must involve attempting a catch near the stands?

163/240/255. Too bad the Mets don't have room for him at MLB.

One beverage of his choice to Billy/ElRoy.

Circumcisions can be tricky.

Or maybe he spiked himself.

Most of Tebow's numbers are similar to last year. Last season had a 103/22 K/W, this year 98/20 in 32 fewer PA. Last year 14 doubles and 6 homers, this year 10 and 4. The only big difference is that last year his BABIP was .420. This year down to .255. Before that he had normal figures, between .280 and .310.

So his .163 this year represents some bad luck, but is probably a lot closer to his real ability than last season's .273 was.

I did not know there was a cross-thread beverage protocol.

Most people just pick them up at the duty-free dugout...

They deserve a six pack for that one.
