Can we get a bit more Corbin Burnes love? This has to be one of the greatest 24 IP stretches in history -- 1 R, 8 H, 40 K, 0 BB (that was not a typo). That's a WHIP of 0.33 ... a measly baserunner every 3 innings. That's an 1102 ERA+. (The one run scored on a HR.)
If you combine it with 2020, it's 84 IP, 45 H, 15 ER, 128/24 K/BB. I assume his spin rate has increased by 7000%.
EDIT: And of course he played Roger Dorn in Major League.
Red Sox pitcher Pivetta, who had a no-no with 2 outs in the 6th, decides to walk 2 guys, then gives up a double, game now tied 2-2. Those walks get you everytime...

Cordero was really shallow in left. I don't think Pivetta was going to complete a no-hitter, but still.
#5, I couldn't figure out why he was so shallow. You've got the 2 run lead and a single in front of you may only cost you 1 run, but he misplayed the liner into a game tying double. Really poor fielding.

Borrowing a bit from ESPN:
Pro-rated over a full season, Javy Baez would hit 200 with 45-50 HR, 145-160 RBI, 45-50 SB, 279-300 Ks and 9-10 BB.

Nick Pivetta’s gotta Pivetta. He’ll drive you nuts. We had the pleasure of Vince Velasquez and him in the same Phillies rotation for a couple of years.
Replay fun. Bryant stealing 2B was clearly safe initially, but called out. Upon replay, he was clearly safe at the time the ump called him out, but after, came off the bag with the fielder holding the tag so that he was ruled out on replay.

You can never stop Jason Heyward, you can only hope to contain him.

And the Cubs are now a 500 ballclub. Scientists remain puzzled but the Pentagon confirms the footage is real.

fwiw, the Mets announcers shat on the Cubs for being dumb enough to play for a bunt with Jeff McNeil as the leadoff man in the 10th and the junior league softball "leadoff man on second" rule in place.
and they were right. McNeil enjoys when a situation leads to a shift, or any alteration of the traditional setup - he noticeably gets near the batter's box and surveys the scenarios.
Wee Willie Keeler and Wade Boggs live!
sure, he struck out. but it was such a dumb strategy that a decade ago I'd know that the manager is an idiot.
but these days, how many managers actually make decisions?

Those MoneyMongers.
since he's playing for the biggest contract of his life, he realizes it would be foolish to hustle because - ok, I got nuthin.
the Mets' Keystone Cops OF don't come close to catching it. lazy relay back the INF.
Baez appears to be sleepwalking. belated throw to first base seems to out him, but replay saves him - to an extent.
if I'm a GM, I might be thinking, "And you want to be my latex salesman?"
runner is safe, play is over.
no need for the Zapruder Tape Follies.
so we go to extras - with another awful rule
