Don Mattingly is joining the Blue Jays as bench coach to manager John Schneider, the team announced Wednesday.
The former New York Yankees slugger, a six-time All-Star, joins the Blue Jays after seven seasons as manager of the Miami Marlins, where he won National League Manager of the Year honors in 2020.
Mattingly previously spent five seasons as manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, winning three division titles in that span. He also worked as hitting coach and bench coach for the Yankees and as hitting coach of the Dodgers before his managerial stint in Los Angeles.

- Yankees bench/hitting coach from 2004-2007. They made it to the World Series in 2003 and 2009, but never while he was there.
- Dodgers hitting coach/advisor/manager from 2008-2015. They never made it to the World Series during his time there, but did in 2017 after he left.
- The Marlins manager from 2016-2022. They never made it to the World Series during his time there (though I doubt his curse affected it too much).
If the Marlins make the World Series in the next year or two...
But good for him. It's tough to do that after so many years in the driver's seat
