Can't say I regret sticking with YouTube TV too much.

Good news for the amphibious!

there indeed was a newspaper headline 5 years ago that described Venditte's versatility in dexterity in that way!
   8. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: July 30, 2020 at 06:31 PM (#5967000)
You'd think maybe all the infielders don't have to come to the mound for every pitching change anymore.

You'd think maybe all the infielders don't have to come to the mound for every pitching change anymore.

Especially as often as the Cubs have to change pitchers.

On the 1st pitch leading off in the bottom of the the 1st for the Blue Jays, Bo Bichette swung and missed, letting go of the bat late on his backswing, and hitting Home Plate Umpire Joe West squarely around the ear. Quite a bit of blood, and Joe left the game, apparently to get some stitches, but returned to umpire 3rd base for the remainder of the game in the top of the 3rd. Almost a hockey player.

the Dodgers released Terrance Gore after 2 appearances and no AB this season.

amazing that he is still only age 29.

in parts of the past 7 MLB seasons, Gore is 15 for 67 in 101 games.

0 HR, 1 RBI, 32 R, 40 SB, 9 CS

.224 AVG, .325 OBP, .284 SLG

he did hit .275 with a 91 OPS+ in 51 AB for the Royals last season, including the only 13 starts of his MLB career.

from onroto.com - usually they tell you it's "left groin" or "right groin."

Harris is right-handed - does that also make him right-groined?

I know left-handed people like myself tend to be right-brained, but not sure if the 'flip' extends to groins as well.

07.30: Nationals manager Dave Martinez told reporters that Will Harris is dealing with a groin injury.
(Martinez's exact words were that Harris has "a little bit of a groin thing" and that the hope is that it can be cleaned up during the four-day break the Nationals will have over the weekend. The right-hander should go back to pitching as a set-up man going forward soon. )

Harris has "a little bit of a groin thing"

TMI man ... nobody cares about the size of his "groin thing."

ESPN reporting MLB and MLBPA have agreed to 7-inning DHs (with zombie runner beginning in 8th).

I see Cubs-Reds cancelled -- was that weather or covid?

ESPN reporting MLB and MLBPA have agreed to 7-inning DHs

clarification please?
   15. Howie Menckel Posted: July 30, 2020 at 09:00 PM (#5967027)
weather for Cubs-Reds - rain.

Rizzo pissed that he and teammates spent 8 hours at the ballpark before the game was finally called.

at CitiField, Met Matz throws 104 pitches before departing with 1 out in the 6th and trailing, 3-2.

that would be 7-inning games for doubleheaders
   16. The Yankee Clapper Posted: July 30, 2020 at 09:03 PM (#5967029)
. . . the four-day break the Nationals will have over the weekend.
The Nationals should play the Blue Jays, rather than both teams sit idle while the Marlins & Phillies are in limbo. Neither team will be able to make-up all the missed games - better to get as close to 60 games as possible even if the schedule is a bit uneven.
   17. Edmundo got dem ol' Kozma blues again mama Posted: July 30, 2020 at 09:33 PM (#5967033)
I guess the Orioles and Yankees are the first teams in history to have cancellations vs. one team and be in a rain delay vs. another team on the same day.

HOW WILL THE ANGELS LOSE TODAY?!
Without Mike Trout. Fatherhood beckons.

So the Boston pitcher, Hembree, is allowed to linger all around the mound?
   20. sunday silence (again) Posted: July 30, 2020 at 09:49 PM (#5967036)
I was wondering how a 7th inn. DH would work.
   21. Howie Menckel Posted: July 30, 2020 at 10:25 PM (#5967040)
CLE Bieber is the first P ever to record 13 or more Ks in his first 2 starts of a season.

OK, I actually feel sorry for Edwin Diaz at this point.

Woohoo, Red Sox cobble together insurance run with 2 BB, 1 HBP and a single..
   24. Howie Menckel Posted: July 30, 2020 at 11:02 PM (#5967046)
ooh, Kluber ties the MLB record for 27 K in first two starts of a season that also is held by 23-year-old Brooklyn Dodgers phenom Karl Spooner in 1954. those were two CG shutouts in a September callup. quite the MLB debut.

of course, Spooner went on to...

cue the somber NBC "Dateline" tone, for both before and after

   25. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: July 30, 2020 at 11:18 PM (#5967048)
Karl Spooner is one of the great unknown what-ifs in MLB history. A lefty Steve Dalkowski with more control and fewer demons. Injuries are cruel.

Can the Mets consider eating the Cano contract and DFA'ing Diaz? Is it too much for Brodie to acknowledge? Oh, and there's Jed Lowrie.

Holy Puke!

   27. The Yankee Clapper Posted: July 30, 2020 at 11:40 PM (#5967050)
Yankees were in danger of blowing a game that they led 5-0 in the 1st, but Aaron Judge’s 3-run 9th inning HR reclaimed an 8-6 lead. Bullpen needs to hold the Orioles in their half.

EDIT: VICTORY! 18 in a row against the Orioles.
