EDIT: Now 4-4 on Higashioka pinch-hit RBI double.
Just took a look -- the guys sitting the bench for Miggy are
Harold Castre: an IF with an 89 OPS+ and a ISO of 40
Zack Short: a SS with a 67 OPS+
Victor Reyes: a OF with a 52 OPS+
Derek Hill: a OF with a 90 OPS+ and a ISO of 30
Grayson Greiner: backup C with an OPS+ of 68
And I assume Short and one of Reyes/Hill are starting every day in place of Goodrum and Mazara. So let Miggy finish off the season, get his 500 HRs. Assuming he doesn't make it to 3000 hits, he should be close enough he can get there quickly next year then maybe they will finally move on.
today's twist of the knife: down 5-0 after 8 innings, only two hits all day.
then, HR HR HR 1B and a one-out walk to bring up lummoxes Alonso and JD Davis - who promptly swing and miss at 6 straight high fastballs and it's ballgame over.
Cardinals do not deserve to win a game with Shildt as manager ever again.
Edit: looking at splits and that isn't the case, but he did just strikeout.

Well, it sure looks as if the Phils are going to sweep the Mets this weekend, quite possibly into oblivion. So is it only fitting that it's Zack Wheeler, the last big mistake made by Wilpon when they let him walk, has broken the fungo bat in half and shoved it up the Mets' rectum
Ground ball to the shortstop, who was playing in, throw to the plate, the catcher has to jump to catch the ball, and fortunately it was a normal human sliding and not Baez as the catcher was able to bop him on the helmet for the out.
next batter singles to make it 6-5. still two on one out, top of the ninth. (errors caused this situation though)
2-0. 27k's, took 3:48 --- baseball in 2021; gotta love it!
Only thing positive from that game is that NY lost.
