HOW WILL THE ANGELS LOSE TODAY?!

Cubs down 7-2 in t9 so ... rain delay. So the Cubs will lose very slowly today.

Gallo/Boras in extension talks. I guess there is always a first time…..

99 vs 99 tonight.

Hyun Jin Ryu (Blue Jays) vs Taijuan Walker (Mets).

That's got to be a first in MLB history, right?

Abraham Almonte, Phillies killer tonight or is it Vince Velasquez, Phillies killer? (2.2/5/6/6/2/3, ERA jumps from 5.00 to 5.54)

Red Sox blow a 3-0 lead in the 8th, lose 4-3 to Yankees.

Chapman looked MUCH sharper than he has in a month, hitting a lot of corners.

that said, if you send up each batter and tell him not to swing, the odds of him getting 3 Ks before surrendering 4 BBs seems slightly less than zero. appropriate that the last swinging strikeout was on what would have been ball 3, with runners on second and third.

I get that these pitches LOOK good. but that's what video is for, I would think. just show the hitters what happened in recent games, and where the pitches ended up that drew swings.

99 vs 99 tonight.

Mets announcer Gary Cohen called this game "A Barbara Feldman" special, which is not gonna work on viewers under 60.

The Get Smart movie came out a mere 13 years ago, in 2008.

Three innings into the game, and Arenado has hit into two double plays, if anyone thought wpa was a legit stat, they would be laughing at his wpa right now (fortunately nobody around here considers it a real stat, other than it exists)

Yep. The Sox pen has been pretty good all year. Eovaldi went 7.2 and threw a really nice game. Unfortunately Ottavino sh*t the bed today. No real complaints from this Sox fan; it happens. You move onto the next game.

so if Cohen had called this a "Get Smart" special, it might have worked ok.

Barbara Feldon*, alas, was not in the movie so the point stands.

* - am positive Cohen called her Feldman, and of course I compounded the error.
apologies to Agent 99, who btw is now 88.

I've got tickets for tomorrow's Twins-Angels game, but it turns out tonight's game might have been the fun one.

Can’t do without Agent 99, and Anne Hathaway portrayed her in the movie.

According to IMDB, they also brought back Get Smart to TV in 1995. With Don Adams and Barbara Feldon, with their son Zach (Andy Dick) as the bumbling agent. Seems to have lasted 7 episodes.

Through 7 innings Germán has a no-hitter and an 88 Game Score, but he's thrown 90 pitches and chances are he's done for the day.
   25. The Yankee Clapper Posted: July 25, 2021 at 03:37 PM (#6030330)
Looks like Andy jinxed German. Still, 7 innings of 1-hit ball, with 10 Ks, is pretty good.

Aaron Nola gives up a 2 out HR in the 9th to lose his shutout. He’s being pulled at 116 pitches with a 2-1 lead. I can’t second guess the manager’s decision.
   27. Edmundo got dem ol' Kozma blues again mama Posted: July 25, 2021 at 03:40 PM (#6030332)
Austin Riley had 8 of the Braves 9 total bases vs Nola

Shohei Ohtani with homer #35.

I'm really getting sick of the HP umps in this Cardinals-Reds series.

The home-plate-umpire-rating site lists stats from games, with "run swings" for or against the home team expressed in values like .0.07 runs or -0.03 runs; most values are under .50 runs one way or the other. On Friday C.B. Bucknor was at 1.35 runs, in favor of the Reds. Twice today Cardinals have been rung up on ball fours, and now the Reds get the leadoff runner on late in a close-ish game after strike three is called ball four.

Another one, in the 9th. Seriously, look at GameDay 9th inning AB for Harrison Bader: a 2-0 pitch 4-5 inches outside---never ever close to a strike---is called strike one. I've only been casually watching this three-game series, but every time I watch I feel like I see one egregious ball-strike call per half inning.

I'm not saying the Cleveland Baseball Team is stupid - oh, of course I am.

just go to ClevelandGuardians.com to check out the... men's roller derby team of that name (when it isn't crashing from so many people lol-ing trying it out).

those derby fellas are gonna get PAID!
