1. Hombre BrotaniHyun Jin Ryu (Blue Jays) vs Taijuan Walker (Mets).
That's got to be a first in MLB history, right?
Chapman looked MUCH sharper than he has in a month, hitting a lot of corners.
that said, if you send up each batter and tell him not to swing, the odds of him getting 3 Ks before surrendering 4 BBs seems slightly less than zero. appropriate that the last swinging strikeout was on what would have been ball 3, with runners on second and third.
I get that these pitches LOOK good. but that's what video is for, I would think. just show the hitters what happened in recent games, and where the pitches ended up that drew swings.
Mets announcer Gary Cohen called this game "A Barbara Feldman" special, which is not gonna work on viewers under 60.

Yep. The Sox pen has been pretty good all year. Eovaldi went 7.2 and threw a really nice game. Unfortunately Ottavino sh*t the bed today. No real complaints from this Sox fan; it happens. You move onto the next game.
so if Cohen had called this a "Get Smart" special, it might have worked ok.
Barbara Feldon*, alas, was not in the movie so the point stands.
* - am positive Cohen called her Feldman, and of course I compounded the error.
apologies to Agent 99, who btw is now 88.
That was epic.
If only Chapman could throw better !
Lamonte Wade Jr. !
Go home !
The home-plate-umpire-rating site lists stats from games, with "run swings" for or against the home team expressed in values like .0.07 runs or -0.03 runs; most values are under .50 runs one way or the other. On Friday C.B. Bucknor was at 1.35 runs, in favor of the Reds. Twice today Cardinals have been rung up on ball fours, and now the Reds get the leadoff runner on late in a close-ish game after strike three is called ball four.
just go to ClevelandGuardians.com to check out the... men's roller derby team of that name (when it isn't crashing from so many people lol-ing trying it out).
those derby fellas are gonna get PAID!
