Who in MLB is must-see TV right now? This season’s most watchable teams and players

If you love the young and brash

Gonzalez: They’re young, they’re fun, and they’re undeniably good. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (23) is already one of the world’s best hitters. Bo Bichette (24) is on a path to stardom. Alek Manoah (24) is flat-out dominant. The Blue Jays boast an exhilarating young core surrounded by an impressive cast of veterans in their prime, a list that includes George Springer, Matt Chapman, Kevin Gausman, Jose Berrios, Jordan Romano and a host of others. They haven’t hit full stride yet, but they will. And when they do, it’ll be a blast.

The Blue Jays are the model team for a sport desperate to appeal to a younger audience—young, likable, loose, explosive and diverse, as is perfectly illustrated on their illustrious home run jacket. At their best, they can score at will, shut down any opponent and dazzle with defense. Their enclosed ballpark, Rogers Centre, can be one of the loudest venues in the majors at full capacity.

Coincidentally, ESPN has another article up discussing which "disappointments" are likely to remain disappointing ... and the Blue Jays offense is one of the disappointments. Granted, they don't expect them to continue to disappoint but the Jays are not "must-see TV" right now. They're averaging less than 3.5 R/G in May, a 9-12 record.

It's just that crazy Canadian vibe; they are really nice and everyone likes them!

So wait.... are the Jays Who's Now or Who's Not Now?

Must See TV……unless you are blacked out.

Must See TV……unless you are blacked out.

The "TV" is only "blacked out" if (specific) you are silly enough to be paying for Extra Innings or MLBtv without being able to watch (specific) your team. Given that(and the complaining about it have been going on for, what, 20 years now, I think we can safely say any such mistake of that sort is on the customer. If (specific) you paid for your team's cable package, (specific) you'd be able to watch. (General) you may have decided that's too expensive but (general) your team has decided they like cashing the RSN's checks. I believe most cbale companies now offer a streaming option as long as you subscribe.

Admittedly, I believe there are spots where the RSN isn't available but MLB considers it part a team's market plus when some cable providers decide not to carry the RSN. That's a very silly situation.

Hmm, could be. I'm a luddite who still pays for basic cable, so I personally don't have any issues. Seems to be a general grumble among fans though...when the Braves played a game on Apple TV a couple weeks ago, there was much gnashing of teeth over missing it.

That irritated me, too, until I realized I could watch an Apple game with a free trial subscription, which I cancelled five minutes after the game ended. The real annoyance would be the many more numerous Amazon Prime games, but luckily if your favorite team isn't your local team then those games aren't blacked out.

The complaints about teams being "local" in an area where the RSN isn't reasonably available are absolutely fair. If you live in the local area and can easily get cable you've just made a decision which is your call. The various AppleTV/Peacock stuff is pretty annoying of course but you miss a couple games a month, it's OK.

I've been having an issue lately in which my IP address is, for some reason, being located 130 miles from where I live, putting me into another state (Connecticut) and all of a sudden blacking out all the NY games from my MLB.tv package. (I'm near Boston).

The Mets are my second-favorite team to watch, and now all of a sudden I can't watch them.

I called mlb.tv, they said to rest my DHCP, which didn't work, so they said to call my internet provider. I called my internet provider, and they said to call my router manufacturer.

Nobody has an answer, nobody takes responsibility, and I'm still paying for an MLB.tv subscription that's blacking out non-local games I want to watch.

I had this exact same thing in Rhode Island. I had to change ISPs since Cox refused to address the issue.

There's a new service here in Colorado where you rent some kind of super-antenna for $25 a month, and it hauls in all the sports channels off the airwaves, in addition to the Decades TV and Me_TV type channels and a few other oddities. They're clearly not paying any rights fees, so it's of dubious legality and I'm expecting it to get sued into oblivion at some point. But I've always said that if I could pay some reasonable monthly fee to get the Rockies games, I'd do it, and now I am doing exactly that.

I had the same problem in northern New Jersey, online services kept identifying my IP location as Philadelphia. The cable was Comcast, and Philly is their HQ, so it was probably routing through there somehow. (I didn't subscribe to any streaming services, this was just for things like search engines and speed test websites.)
