Why gambling used to scare baseball and why it doesn’t anymore

In 2013, Selig gave sworn testimony about the Lovecraftian horrors that would emerge from gambling’s depths to consume baseball.

In 2018, his replacement waxed poetic about just how snugly the sport and gambling fit together.

This is how baseball stopped worrying and learned to love the casino.

Interesting read on the optics of gambling, and how technology plays in.

If mlb embraces gambling, does Rose go in the hall? Jackson?

Rose would have a shot if he wasn't such an embarrassment of a person and had at least partially "reconfigured his life" as Bart G instructed. Maybe the next veterans committee gets lobbied by the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce to let him in couple decades after he's dead to avoid a zero induction year. That's about his only hope.

Jackson: no way, no how, no never.

"Embracing gambling" doesn't mean you allow players / managers to bet on the games they're involved with, so... no.
