XM MLB: Florida Marlins Mermaid auditions Jan.19, pole dancing experience optional

Meh…I once waited for Rick Reichardt and Jim Spencer to come out of a scuzzy Detroit Go-Go bar. Any minute now. Any minute…

The NY Post’s Phil Mushnick mentioned this promotion in his column today:

(NY Post) “On the club’s Web site page for “Marlins Maidens” auditions, the photo of the posed, barely dressed models would cause one to think of the Florida Marlins as a massage parlor/escort service/strip club, featuring foul pole-dancing between innings. Fans are reminded to bring lots of singles.”

That picture appears to depict strippers, not cheerleaders. But I'm sure either their uniforms will be brought vaguely into line with the Marlins uniforms/team colors, or vice versa.
