You can have your Space…Cowboys? Astros affiliate unveils new branding

The Sugar Land Skeeters are no more. The Houston Astros’ Triple A franchise will now be known as the Sugar Land Space Cowboys.

“Today represents a new chapter of professional baseball in Sugar Land,” said Astros Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications Anita Sehgal. “The next step to take as the team moved from its independent ball roots to affiliated Triple A baseball.”

The team on Saturday introduced its new mascot, Orion, and revealed its new jerseys. The Space Cowboys say the team’s trusty sidekick is a cosmic space dog of the species “Canis Cosmicus.”

When the Astros changed the geographical designator of their Florida State League team from Osceola to Kissimmee, they had to drop the "Astros" nickname for the team. They became the Cobras.

I guess they didn't know just exactly what the facts is.

There are musicians/bands that anytime I hear their work—it's never my choosing—my first thought is, "They're still making money off this crap?" Steve Miller is an example. The band Boston. The song "Hotel California." Plenty of others.

Even so, #2 deserves way more credit than it has received.

These players, they're all astronauts ... on some kind of star trek.

Is Sugar Land on the coast?

Is Sugar Land on the coast?

No. It's on the southwest edge of the Houston metro area. About a hour drive to Galveston on the coast.
