2012 ZiPS/RBI Baseball

Remember RBI Baseball for Nintendo?  For those that are interested, I’ve made a modified version of the original RBI Baseball ROM with 2012 ZiPS.

For use of the ROM, seek ye an NES emulator, which can be found in a number of open-source flavors.  I use FCEUX.

Any other old NES ROMs, I can’t legally tell you anything about how to find them, but the rumors on the internet are that a “search” engine can find said ROMS.  But I don’t know nything about that.

I believe as long as the games aren't still under active development (for instance, if they're being updated for use on a GameBoy, or are included as "surprise" games inside a current game), then they're out of copyright. This ruling was made a few years ago, and as far as I know hasn't been updated. I AM NOT A LAWYER, DON'T DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE ILLEGALLY. IF YOU SUE ME FOR SOMETHING YOU READ HERE, I'LL SUE YOU RIGHT BACK, ASSHAT.

Anyway: awesome!

This is the best thing the site's produced in years. And I don't say that lightly.

I updated the download about 45 minutes ago - I hit wrong buttons and Kennedy and Weaver came out as lefties!

Could the Yankees trot out a worse lineup?

Eh, Baseball Stars was better.

Those are the pinch-hitters, silly!

As can be seen, I gave the Phillies the powder-blue variant and a few teams their alternate jerseys. There's just not a lot of colors available and I didn't want all the teams to be blue/white and or red/white.

And yeah, the Yankees are black. The NES does not have the right dark navy blue.

Totally baffled as to who "Riot" is on the Giants. Theriot?

Oh, and this is amazing, Dan.

He's The Riot, so how could there be another?

I also gave the Diamondbacks the alternate black jersey after posting that screenshot. Again, wanted to reduce the "reddish-and-white" teams without a lot of choices of shade of red.

Why not the purple uniforms of the Jay Bell era?

Hey guys, I'm glad to see some love for RBI out on the web...not sure how I missed this post, but I also make an update to RBI Baseball every year...I run the site http://www.rbibaseball.us...the kicker? My update contains all 30 teams in one ROM...same old-school game, updated players for 2012.

I wasn't going to put out a release this year due to family changes, but I've decided to hop back in the game and make one. Since I started late, I'm behind, but I do have almost all the batters done, and will be moving on to pitchers soon...

Nice work on the ROM, Dan...I'll be stopping back to read the site now and again.
