Even in the wake of 9/11, horrible tragedy that it was, within a week things were relatively normal.
Outside of NYC, certainly. Not having been there but knowing people affected, it took a while for New York to achieve some measure of normalcy. I don't take your comment as trivializing the impact in NY as much as acknowledging that most anywhere else people continued to work, shop, play, and interact much the same way they did beforehand.
Now that that's out of the way... When you say the Pedro Game are you talking about the regular season one-hitter in NY, or ALDS Game 5?

Geez, send a guy to Florida and he ignores things. The "Pedro Game" I referred to was the ALDS game. And man did the Sox screw the pooch on Sale.

Not sure how much to say the Red Sox screwed the pooch on Sale. They sent him last fall to Dr. Andrews, who said he didn't need surgery. So either Andrews was wrong (which is on Andrews), or something happened between then and now (which arguably could be on the Sox but mostly it's on Sale), or they are having him get the surgery anyway because there's no sense not doing it given the current flavor of apocalypse we've got.
That ALDS game was magnificent. Never disrespect Troy O'Leary.
I think just more generally with the extension. While I didn't think it would be THIS bad this is pretty predictable with pitchers in general and of course Sale hasn't exactly been Old Hoss Radbourn in the durability department.
