I listen to it, and will continue, but...

First, stop recording it over the phone. Or reduce the compression. Or something. It's really low-quality audio, and it makes it hard to listen to.

Second, stop with the leading questions. It seems to be aimed at a pretty low level of fans, and the questions to the writers are aimed at getting them to give simple answers. Stop. It's a podcast, buried on the Globe's website. The only people who are going to listen to this are the people that are fairly big Sox fans, and we probably already know most of what's been written all week. Give me the deep stories, the ones not worthy of any print. I want to know what happened on the plane, not whether or not Matsuzaka throws a gyroball after his 3d start.

As I explained on the Rob Bradford thread, I decided to track the starters this year as graphically as I could in this format. How much rest they get, game score and a DIPS based variant (both are explained here, pitch count and pitch per inning (I think that tp/ip gives a better indication if a pitcher is tired when used in conjunction with a pitch count than just looking at # of pitches thrown.) Will this be predictive of future performance? I have no clue. But it was easy enough for me to input and, who knows? It might turn out interesting to look at.

I'll let you guys analyze this.
   3. Darren Posted: April 28, 2007 at 01:02 PM (#2348227)
In this kind of interview, I really like the behind the scenes info more than the general analysis. Ie, I prefer stuff like the scouting reports on Okajima over "Torre is trying to survive game to game with his bullpen." To me, that's the stuff that we fans can't get on our own.

Overall, it's a nice feature to be able to listen to when you want to, rather than waiting for a Sports-Reporters-like show.

Thanks, Darren. You said what I was trying to say, but much clearer.

I agree with Darren and Fly about the content. They should aim toward a higher level.

The on-demand aspect is nice.

This seems like a good place to put this:
