Hate to bump this thread, but today's game 1 crystallized for me what's infuriating about this team (to me). They just don't seem to have a coherent plan.

Against a struggling pitcher, with a bullpen weakened by heavy use in the past few days, they put the first or second pitch into play 18 times.

0 for 9 putting the first pitch into play. 3 for 9 on the second pitch (2 doubles, I think).

I have nothing against first pitch swinging, if it's the pitch you're looking for. But if you asked the Yankees how they'd want the Sox bats to approach the game, that would be it.

I noticed that too Doug. They were just hacking away way too much when it seemed pretty clare that Wang wasn't locating his pitches well.
